There will be short quizzes given each week on Wednesday. There will be 8 total quizzes given. Calculators and notes are not permitted on quizzes. If you know you will not be in class on a day that a quiz will be given, it is your responsibility to notify your instructor before that day and arrange a time to take the quiz.
The following assignment can replace your lowest quiz grade with a score of 100%.
Assignment: Find a real-world application of calculus. This "real-world application" can be another class, a textbook from another subject, a newspaper article, or something else entirely. It should not come directly from our textbook. You have two options for the format of assignment. It could be either a 1 1/2 to 2 page paper or a 5 to 6 minute informal presentation in your instructor's office. Your paper or presentation should include the following:
There will be two midterm exams and a cumulative final exam. All three exams will be sit-down exams with no calculators, notes, or books permitted. The midterms will be held on Tuesday or Thursday evenings, 7:00-9:00 PM. The final will be held during the finals period. If you are unable to make an exam, it is your responsibility to notify your instructor at least 24 hours prior to the exam and arrange a make-up time. We will announce the location as soon as it is available.
