Here is the final paper assignment.

Most recent assignments posted: Week of February 9 to February 13. There is no more regular homework. The second midterm is due on Friday, February 27, and the final paper assignment was distributed in class on Monday, February 23, and will be posted here soon.

Homework assigned each day is due the following Monday, or, if we do not have class that Monday, the first class after that.

Week of January 5 - January 9, 2009

Wednesday:
  • Review: Chapter 1.
  • Read: 2.0 and 2.1.
  • Prepare to discuss: Unique readability.
  • Write up: Write a parsing algorithm for terms analogous to the parsing algorithm for wffs of sentential logic described in Section 1.3. Explain why this algorithm must work. You may use the lemma we were proving in class, that no proper initial segment of a term is a term, if that helps.
Friday:
  • Review: 2.1.
  • Read: 2.2, Truth and Models and Logical Implication (through page 89).
  • Prepare to discuss: Questions from reading.
  • Write up: 2.1, problems 2, 5, and 10.
