Here is the final paper assignment.

Most recent assignments posted: Week of February 9 to February 13. There is no more regular homework. The second midterm is due on Friday, February 27, and the final paper assignment was distributed in class on Monday, February 23, and will be posted here soon.

Homework assigned each day is due the following Monday, or, if we do not have class that Monday, the first class after that.

Week of January 5 - January 9, 2009

Monday: Read: 1.0, 1.1, 1.2. Prepare to discuss: Any questions you have. Write up: 1.1, problems 1 and 3. For Reference: Handout from class.

Wednesday: Review: 1.2. Read: 1.3. Prepare to discuss: Questions on handout from Wednesday's class. Write up: 1.2, problems 2 and 5.

Friday: Read: 1.7. Write up: 1.7, problems 3, 4 and 5. For Reference: Handout from class.

Week of January 12 - January 16, 2009

Monday: Review: Chapter 1. Prepare to discuss: Problems from Monday's class. Write up: 1.7, problems 8, 10 and 11.

Wednesday: Review: Chapter 1. Read: 2.0 and 2.1. Prepare to discuss: Unique readability. Write up: Write a parsing algorithm for terms analogous to the parsing algorithm for wffs of sentential logic described in Section 1.3. Explain why this algorithm must work. You may use the lemma we were proving in class, that no proper initial segment of a term is a term, if that helps.

Friday: Review: 2.1. Read: 2.2, Truth and Models and Logical Implication (through page 89). Prepare to discuss: Questions from reading. Write up: 2.1, problems 2, 5, and 10. NOTE: No class on Monday, January 19, MLK day. We will meet during the x-hour the following week on Tuesday, January 27.

Tuesday: Write up: No additional assignment from today.

Wednesday: Review: Sections 2.1 and 2.2 through page 89. Read: Solutions to today's worksheet, which will be posted here sometime today. Write up: Section 2.2, problems 1, 2 and 9. Note: First midterm distributed today, due at the beginning of class next Wednesday.

Week of February 2 - February 6, 2009

Monday: Read: The rest of Section 2.2. Review: Deductions. Do: Problems from last Wednesday, if you haven't done them. The exam, for Wednesday.

Wednesday: Review: Section 2.2. Write up: Section 2.2, problems 8, 11, 16, and 28.

Friday: Review: Definability. Prepare to discuss: Section 2.2, problems 15, 21 and 28. Write up: 2.2, problems 23, 24 and 27. NOTE: We will meet during the x-hour next week on Tuesday, February 10.
