  • Material covered: All material: approximately 50 points on old material, and 100 points on new material.
  • There will be a set of practice problems and their solutions.
  • There will be no calculators allowed, but you will be allowed one 8.5x11 inch piece of paper with anything you like written on both sides of it.

• Problems getting your hardcopy?: Remember, your login is case sensitive. You must login with your login name as given to you. While WeBWorK initially lets you look at your problems on the web, it will fail when you get to the hardcopy. So if your last name is "Smith" it must be entered as such, and not as "smith".

Exams

There will be two "hour" examinations and a final examination. The dates are:

First Hour Exam	Oct 17, 4:00 - 6:00pm
Second Hour Exam	Nov 7, 4:30 - 6:30pm
Final Exam	Dec 3, 2005, 11:30am - 2:30pm

Note people for whom the exam conflicts with a lab should contact their instructor; there will be a alternate time (6:30) to take your exam.

Homework Policy

• Homework will be assigned daily and will be due at the beginning of the next class meeting.
  
  
• All homework assignments will be posted on the course assignment's web page.
  
  
• All homework assignments will be submitted via the web. More details are posted on the course assignment's web page.
  
  
• Late homework will not be accepted in the absense of divine intervention or matters of similar weight.
  
  
• Unexcused late papers count zero.

Grades

The course grade will be based upon the scores on the hour exams, homework, and the final exam as follows:

Final Exam	150 points
Total	400 points

The Honor Principle

On Exams: No help given or received On Homework: Each person in the class has the potential to receive a homework assignment distinct from anyone elses, but all cut from the same mold. For example if the problem were to find the minimum of ax^2 + bx + c, each student would receive their own values of a, b, and c. Collaboration on homework is permitted and encouraged, but obviously it is a violation of the honor code for someone to provide the answers for you.

Tutorials

Tutorial assistance for this course, that is, help with your homework, will be available in 102 Bradley, Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays evenings 7 - 9pm. Tutorials will begin on Thursday, September 22.

Also note that the Tutor Clearinghouse will have private one-on-one tutors available for Math 11. The tutors are recruited on the basis that they have done well in the subject, and are trained by the Academic Skills Center. If a student receives financial aid, the College will pay for three hours of tutoring per week. If you would like to have a tutor, please go to 301 Collis and fill out an application as early in the term as possible.

Disabilities

Students with disabilities who will be taking this course and may need disability-related classroom accommodations are encouraged to make an appointment to see their instructor as soon as possible. Also, they should stop by Student Disability Services in the Academic Skills Center in Collis Center to register for support services.
