Algebraic Combinatorics

Math 68

Algebraic combinatorics involves the use of techniques from algebra, topology and geometry in the solution of combinatorial problems, or the use of combinatorial methods to solve problems in algebra, algebraic geometry, and algebraic topology. Because of the interplay with other areas of mathematics, there is a wide variety of ideas and methods in algebraic combinatorics that are of interest to a wide range of mathematicians.

The purpose of this course is to introduce you to some of the ideas and some of the methods in this beautiful field. The topics I will cover where chosen solely on the basis of their beauty
