HMTL and Web Design

Build and maintain your own website, a comprehensive (and apparently opinionated) overview.
Sizzling HTML Jalfrezi: my favorite general reference.
HTML reference guide: like Jalfrezi.
Named colors so you can see what all the named colors look like; you can let the screen have any background color you'd like to check for clashing.
EasyRGB: find pleasant color combinations. I can't get this to work with Safari, but I like the idea. Try it with Netscape or IE.
Freedback.com, a site that will create feedback forms for your website.
I hand-code most of my pages so a beginner could look at them for a guideline (view > source).

Downloads

Tucows Downloads (an excellent site)

If you have OS X, don't worry if the fonts are only available in Windows format - Font Book will handle it.
