Reading

Read what we will cover in class on Wednesday and Friday: 11.6 and 11.7.

When reading 11.6 pay special attention to the following concepts:

  • calculus with power series, Theorem 12, writing known functions as power series, hard integrals made easy, algebra of power series, the table on page 607.
When reading 11.7 pay special attention to the following concepts:
  • does every function have a power series?, Maclaurin series, the connection between the coefficients of the Maclaurin series and power series and the original function, Taylor series, Theorem 13 (good news!, they work...)

Problems

The following problems are due by the beginning of class on Friday 2/5.
  • 11.5: 8, 9, 10, 11, 16, 21, 23, 28.
