Math 8 Homework #6

My mind rebels at stagnation.
Give me problems, give me work, give me the most obstruse cryptogram,
or the most intricate analysis, and I am in my own proper atmosphere.

Quiz

Remember that we have a quiz on Tuesday 1/19 on Lectures 3 - 6.

Reading

Read what we will cover in the next class: 11.1

When reading 11.1 pay special attention to the following concepts:

  • sequence, terms, limit of sequence (Examples 1 - 3 are nice), the 'fine points' on page 553, the various was to view sequences on page 554, the correspondence between graphs of sequences and graphs of functions, the correspondence between limits of sequences and limits of functions.
  • working with sequences and finding their limits: the "benchmark/standard" examples on page 557, algebraic combinations, the squeeze principle, and the bit on why these things converge.

Problems

The following problems are due by the beginning of class on Wednesday 1/20.
  • 10.4: 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, 10, 12, 13, 15, 16, 31.
