The things taught in colleges are not an education, but the means of education. Ralph Waldo Emerson
Reading
Read what we will cover in the next class: 9.3
When reading 9.3 pay special attention to the following concepts:
Powers of Trig Functions: two main types, reduction formulas, trig identities including the
double angle identities, read through the examples carefully.
Trig Substitution: the table on page 514 gives a nice summary of the information,
read through the examples carefully.
Problems
The following problems are due by the beginning of class on Monday 1/11.
NOTE: for problems 10 - 14 Only specify the "appropriate" partial fractions
with undetermined coefficients to which you would set p(x)/q(x) equal.
Do Not find the undetermined coefficients and Do Not evaluate the integral.
Hint for 28a: Differentiate the right side and see what you get.
