Read what we will cover in class on 3/1: Chapter 14

When reading Chapter 14 pay special attention to the following concepts:

  • ideal, ideal test, examples and nonexamples, factor rings, the existence theorem for factor rings, examples, prime ideals, maximal ideals.

Problems

The following problems are due by the beginning of class on Friday 2/26.
  • Ch 13 : 2, 4, 10, 11, 12, 13, 16, 20, 34, 38, 40.
  • For 12, think about Zn for a small n.
