Reading

Read what we will cover in the next class: 14.3, 14.4.

When reading 14.3 pay special attention to the following concepts:

  • Pay special attention to the theorems in this section. There are many of them and each is significant for its own reasons. After you read each theorem, try to express it in your own words and ask questions like what? when? why?. Also think about the following: The Fundamental Theorem of Line Integrals, path independence, relations between conservative vector fields and partials obtained from the parametrization, make sure you understand what is happening in examples 2 - 5.
When reading 14.4 pay special attention to the following concepts:
  • Green's Theorem...Most of this section consists of examples of applications of Green's Theorem. Make sure you understand what the theorem says and look closely at examples 1 and 3. Also, note the definitions of: positive orientation, negative orientation, and simple region.
