Beth Anne Castellano Wins NSF Graduate Research Fellowship
Congratulations to PhD student Beth Anne Castellano for winning an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship! Beth Anne is advised by Professor Rosa Orellana and her research involves finding combinatorial interpretations for change-of-basis coefficients of symmetric functions that have connections to representation theory. She is also involved in departmental inclusion and outreach efforts as a Sonia Kovalevsky Day organizer and Mathland instructor. Congratulations to our 2024 AWM Essay Contest winners!
Congratulations to the winners of the 2024 Association for Women in Mathematics Student Essay Contest, as well as those of our local essay contest Biographies Of Contemporary Women In Mathematics! At the national level, Maria Grozeva, ’24 won first place and Alan Zhang of Frances C. Richmond Middle School won honorable mention.
