Exams

There will be two (probably take-home) exams and a final examination. The midterm exams are tentatively scheduled as follows:

Exam 1 October 18, 2000
Exam 2 November 8, 2000

The Registrar's Office schedules the final exam, which will occur during the period December 2 - 6. If you must make travel plans before the schedule for final exams appears (approx October 20), do not make plans to leave Hanover before December 7. Exams will not be given early to accommodate travel plans.

Homework Policy and Guidelines

Grades

The course grade will be based upon the scores on the homework, two hour exams and the final exam.

The following is a tentative distribution of points. I am still toying with the idea of term projects, so this may change.

Hour Exams (2) 200 points
Homework 100 points
Final Exam 150 points
Total 450 points

The Honor Principle

On Exams: No help given or received

On Homework: Collaboration is permitted and encouraged, but NO COPYING . In other words, you should feel free to talk to other students while you are in the process of thinking about a problem. However, when it comes time to write up your solutions, you should do this by yourself without outside assistance.

Disabilities

Students with disabilities who will be taking this course and may need disability-related classroom accommodations are encouraged to make an appointment to see their instructor as soon as possible, certainly within the first two weeks of the course. Also, they should stop by the Academic Skills Center in Collis Center to register for support services.
