| Exams |
|---|
There will be two "midterm examinations" and a final examination. The hour exams will come in two parts, an in-class portion in the xhour, followed by a take-home portion handed out in the xhour and due the next day. The exams are scheduled as follows:
| Exam 1 | October 17, 2000 | 102 Bradley | 1 - 1:50 pm |
| Exam 2 | November 7, 2000 | 102 Bradley | 1 - 1:50 pm |
The Registrar's Office schedules the final exam, which will occur during the period December 2 - 6. If you must make travel plans before the schedule for final exams appears (approx October 20), do not make plans to leave Hanover before December 7. Exams will not be given early to accommodate travel plans.

| Grades |
|---|
The course grade will be based upon the scores on the homework, two hour exams and the final exam.
The following is a tentative distribution of points
| Hour Exams (2) | 200 points |
| Homework | 50 points |
| Final Exam | 150 points |
| Total | 400 points |
| The Honor Principle |
|---|
On Exams: No help given or received
On Homework: Each person in the class has the potential to receive a homework assignment distinct from anyone elses, but all cut from the same mold. For example, suppose we wanted to ask people to find the derivative of a*xm. Each person would receive their own value of a and m, so the problems are cosmetically different, while being identical in the concept they are testing.
Collaboration on homework is permitted and encouraged, but obviously it is a violation of the honor code for someone to provide the answers for you.
| Tutorials |
|---|
Tutorial assistance for this course will be available in Bradley 104, Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 7:30 -- 9:30 pm. Tutorials will commence on Thursday, September 21.
Also note that ``the Tutor Clearinghouse may have private one-on-one tutors available for Math 13. The tutors are recruited on the basis that they have done well in the subject, and are trained by the Academic Skills Center. If a student receives financial aid, the College will pay for three hours of tutoring per week. If you would like to have a tutor, please go to 301 Collis and fill out an application as early in the term as possible.''
| Disabilities |
|---|
Any student with a documented disability needing academic adjustments or accommodations is requested to speak with their instructor by the end of the second week of the term. All discussions will remain confidential. Also, they should stop by the Academic Skills Center in Collis Center to register for support services.
