In this talk, spectral problems on three related classes of singular spaces will be discussed: (1) the spectrum of the Laplacian restricted to functions that are constant along the leaves of a compact Riemannian foliated manifold; (2) the spectrum of the $G$-invariant Laplacian on a compact manifold acted upon by a compact Lie group of isometries; and (3) the spectrum of the Laplacian on orbifolds. In particular, the connections between these spectral problems will be explored, and some spectral results via the wave trace will be presented. |
